“Happiness H. Puma” Has 20 years experience and is looking for a new remote role as a Senior Engineer.

I'd like my next role to be building tools for others to use. I span full stack dev to devops, even a little bit to ops. I very much enjoy writing software but it's the value to others I most enjoy. I believe in in creating trust, tools / software that does what others need, simply and intuitively. I'm big into pragmatic testing, hitting all the points and in a way that's easy to maintain without taking too long to run. I also believe productionization starts at the beginning of the lifecycle, knowing goals, throughput, capacity and measuring that from the get go and understanding resource exhaustion and the monitoring thereof. So I'm looking for a role that requires those senior level skills, building from scratch reliable software and processes or shoring up those existing in need.

On the managerial side, I enjoy small teams and would prefer a role that's no more than 50% management (and fine with a pure IC role). I believing in hiring people you can trust and doing just that. Key to that is transparency. I've found the more I clearly communicate down the goals above, the more we all stay aligned and the more independent thought and actions further the company vision. Within the team, I foster an environment of openness and acceptance. I look for people with complementary skills and dispositions, encouraging their individuality to play opposite and necessary roles in any design discussion. To this end, while I absolutely believe diversity in all respects is essential to a fair and equal society, I also believe diversity is essential to a well rounded and successful engineering team. The more life experiences a team has, the more perspectives that team has, and thus the more sources of innovation that team has.
