“Observable H. Starfish” Has 5 years experience and is looking for a new role as a Software Engineer in San Francisco Bay Area or Remote.

I'm looking a position writing back-end code at a mid-senior level. I enjoy working with a team and helping to teach, train, and mentor other developers, but I'm not interested in a management or team lead role. I've tried that, and it's not nearly as satisfying to me as building stuff.

Before I became a developer, I was working as a data analyst/actuarial analyst and have a strong background in data, databases, and insurance.

Summary

  • Has 5 years experience in field
  • Works Local or Remote
  • Works in US/Pacific time zone when working remotely
  • Mostly works in companies 50-100 people
  • Primarily works in corporate environments
  • Primarily works full-time roles
  • Considers themselves a member of an underrepresented group

Notable Projects

  • Built bridge to connect Laravel/Eloquent to DB2 database
  • Worked with COBOL programmers to bring existing processes to the web
  • Built websites using Laravel 3, 4, and 5

Ideal Company

I'm looking for a profitable company which has a plan for growth in place. No early stage startups. I want to be part of a team which cares about code quality, but understands that good code in production is better than perfect code in development. I want to work with people who genuinely like what they're doing and each other. Ideally, I'd like a part-time or reduced hour position. (I'm used to working 4 days/week and would like to keep doing so.)
