“Sound B. Sparrow” Has 15 years experience and is looking for a new remote role as an IC Interaction Designer + Prototyper.

I'm a designer with an engineering background. I've worked in many domains, at small + midsize businesses, startups, national brands and non-profits. Many teams + projects have been remote.

I have a lot of experience with responsive design, and spend most of my time making prototypes to help communicate ideas: paper sketches, storyboards, Codepens, motion studies, and browser-based prototypes both inside and outside a product's codebase. On small projects, I develop large parts of the front-end. On complex products, I contribute to production in narrower slices:
- responsive page layout + components
- [S]CSS organization + refactoring
- animations/transitions

I've managed + mentored team members and external consultants, though I've grown as an individual contributor rather than a manager. I work best by getting absorbed in the making, and I'm looking for a group that
- values this [leading, without directly managing people]
- is looking for someone with my experience
- gives me a voice in the direction of the product and our process

Ideal Company

I'm looking to work remotely with an organization making meaningful experiences that positively affect people. How + why > what.

An important thing for me is being on a team with people different than me, who agree the systemic problems of inclusion and representation in tech are an urgent issue. To address these, the team makes active efforts to:
- recruit, mentor and train people from underrepresented groups
- cultivate a safe, respectful and kind work environment, whether it's on Slack, an in-office gathering or an after-work event
- inspire and motivate, yet not at the cost of work-life balance
- accommodate differences in ways of thinking + working, ability/disability
